This world has room for your voice

We want to read what you make. Writing about the real history, art of the world, or a short tale from a corner we have not reached. Every submission is read by hand, and what we publish carries your name.

What to send

Three things, and we are specific on purpose. Pick one and make it well.

An article about the real history

600 to 1,200 words

The Sumer behind a scene. What a scribe's working day actually held. How a cylinder seal was cut, and what it proved. What the Eanna precinct was for. Write the history, name your sources at the end, and leave our fiction out of it.

Art of a place, a face, or an object

Somewhere we have shown you, or somewhere we have not reached yet. Tell us in a line what it is, and say how you made it. By hand or with a tool, both are welcome. We only ask that you say which.

A mini-story from a corner of the world

500 to 1,500 words

One scene, one place, one person. Keep to what is already published: nothing that contradicts a season you can play today, and nothing that adds new rules to the world. Small and true beats large and new.

What we cannot publish

  • Work that is not yours to send, in whole or in part.
  • Anything that contradicts a published season, or that writes new rules for the world.
  • Real people written into the story, or real companies named inside it.

How to submit

Five steps, and you can read all of them before you make anything.

  1. Sign in. A free account, so we can credit you and reach you about your work.

  2. Pick the kind, give it a title, and paste the work in. Markdown is supported. Art goes in as a link or an asset id.

  3. Confirm the work is your own, and agree to the contribution terms.

  4. We read every submission by hand. You will hear back, sometimes with a note asking for a change.

  5. If we publish it, it lands in Scribe Dispatches under your name. You keep ownership of what you made.

Submissions are not open yet. They open once the contribution terms are final. This is the form you will use, shown here so you can see what it asks for and have your work ready.
