The Codex
Amara
A young scribe of Uruk, quick-handed with the reed, hiding something the temple wants on the night a second voice wakes behind her eyes.
- Standing
- Ours outright. No ancient source names them.
- Where you meet them
- The opening of Season One, in the first hour of play.
In the chronicle
What this story does with them, said only as far as it can be said.
She is the first of the ancestral hosts, and the one the story chooses deliberately over the famous names: an ordinary, frightened copyist, so that the first joining is intimate rather than grand. Her fear is real and her will is her own. A player can urge her; a player cannot drive her.
The honest part
Nothing in the Sumerian record names her. She is invented, and the temple, the reed and the routine around her are not.
The rest of the cast
Everyone else a visitor is allowed to meet before they play.
